What you said, and what we did
Through taking part in a consultation, your views influence the way the councils across Dorset do things.
You could be influencing a new policy, really improving a front-line service, revolutionising an approach, proving a need or representing a new point of view. However you do it, and whatever you do, there will be a response. It might not always be a response that is as great or as visible than you might have thought, but it is our responsibility as a local authority to show you change as it happens.
Big Society, Big with Dorset Citizens!
The new government in May 2010 stated "a cross-government policy programme will create a climate that empowers local people and communities, building a Big Society that would roll back big government, bureaucracy and Whitehall power". In Dorset, our local people and our communities can feel empowered through taking part - in online surveys, questionnaires, focus groups, events, voting, graffiti walls, petitioning -and seeing and hearing what happened as a result.
A good example of how consultation in Dorset really makes things happen are the Citizens' Panel Newsletters, available on the Dorset Consultation Tracker
