Why have you produced a new LTP now when there are all these cut backs being made?
Local Transport Plans are a statutory requirement, that is, they are a requirement of Central Government.
Existing LTPs expired at the end of the last financial year and so we had to produce a new plan. The current financial cut backs mean that we can only make limited improvements in the first few years of the plan, but the LTP must consider the longer term, up to 2026 and we must be in a position to plan for the future and bring forward improvements when the economic situation improves. Having a clear idea of what we are trying to achieve will help in attracting or bidding for new funding.
