Coast protection schemes - ongoing and completed

New paving at West Bay

The major coastal defence scheme at West Bay has been completed. Phase 2 of the Lyme Regis Environmental Improvements scheme has commenced. Coast protection schemes have been completed at Ringstead, Seatown and Charmouth.

Completed schemes are as follows:

Ringstead Bay

The scheme comprised a new rock groyne together with a new slipway and beach replenishment. New cut off drains with improved stream and ditches were also constructed. The district council monitors the beach profile and will regrade or replenish the beach as necessary.

Seatown

The scheme comprised cliff drainage and rock armour placed against the existing soft cliffs.

Charmouth

The scheme comprised a new stepped sea wall and rock groyne.
