Requesting alternative formats at Weymouth and Portland Borough Council

If you need assistance with accessing our service or require a document in an alternative format - for example large print, braille, audio or in a different language - we can arrange this.

Hearing impaired people

Induction loops

There is an induction loop situated in the main Reception at the Council Offices. We also have a mobile system which all our Customer Services Team are trained to use.

Sign language interpreters

Please let us know in advance if you will need a sign language interpreter, as qualified signers will need to be booked.  You can do this either by email or via fax on 01305 760971.

Blind and visually impaired people

Our customer services team can give you assistance in the following ways:

  • Provide you with council information, on the telephone or in person

  • Produce large print copies or computer disks of our publications

  • Arrange for braille copies of information

  • Help you with completing any council forms

  • Help you with getting the service you need

Please note: braille copies take longer to provide as we do not produce them ourselves.

Interpreting and translation services

If you need an interpreter or would like a document that is produced by us, to be translated into another language, please telephone the Customer Services Team on 01305 838000 or you can email us.

All languages can be interpreted on request and we can also arrange face to face translation. If you require this service then please contact the Customer Services Centre on 01305 838000 to arrange an appointment.

Documents translated in an alternative language will take longer as we do not produce these ourselves.
