A limited stock of sandbags is held at the port main gate (Weymouth Ferry Terminal) for emergency use only.
The policy of the council is to limit the number of sandbags issued per household to three on a discretionary basis to maintain the availability during emergencies for those in need.
If you are aware that your property is prone to flooding the council advises you to be prepared - purchase and store sandbags according to your needs.
Blocked local water course
If your local water course is blocked, please report this to the Environment Agency. They can be contacted on their Floodline number which is 0845 988 1188.
The council has powers to enforce riparian owners to carry out clearance works under the
land drainage Act 1991 (opens in a new window)
, though will carry out clearance works on a discretionary basis if the clearance works are deemed to be in the public interest.
