Support and Bereavement Service

The Bereavement Services Section also forms part of the unit with a team of staff based at the crematorium in Quibo Lane. The council operates the Weymouth crematorium and four cemeteries located in Portland, Wyke Regis and Weymouth.

  • Feedback questionnaire

Weymouth and Portland Borough Council's Bereavement Services are keen to ensure that all our customers receive the best possible service. We would appreciate it if you would consider participating in a survey regarding the facilities provided at the crematorium.

  • Horse drawn hearses

Regency Carriages are proud to present the first horse-drawn hearse in Britain for 80 years.

  • Memorial safety in borough cemeteries

Weymouth and Portland Borough Council is testing the stability of in excess of 20,000 grave memorials in its four cemeteries.

  • A guide to self-arranged funerals

It is often assumed, quite wrongly, that funerals can be arranged only with the services of a funeral director. Some people, however, find great comfort from being involved, partly or totally, in the arrangements for the funeral of a loved one.

  • Stone Masons

A memorial is not merely a marker erected over a grave to remind us of the name of the deceased. It is a lasting symbol of remembrance: a tribute to a life now ended; perhaps a final gift to someone dearly loved. It is therefore extremely important that its design and the firm producing it should be carefully chosen.

  • The Living Will

The Natural Death Centre can supply an Advance Healthcare Directive or Living Will, a legally-binding form designed to guide post-competency medical treatment.

  • Using a Funeral Director

Although Charter members can advise you about funeral arrangements, they are not able to recommend a particular Funeral Director. You can obtain details of your local funeral directors in telephone directories, newspapers, the Citizens Advice Bureau or your Charter member.

  • Burials on Private Land

There is an increasing trend in today's society for maximum consumer choice. This page aims to provide information on using alternative sites for burials.
