Democratic Services

The role of Democratic Services is to facilitate the democratic process in support of the council's aims.

The Section is responsible for providing the following services:

Attendance at council and committee meetings
Production, publication and distribution of agendas, reports and minutes of council and committee meetings and committee forward plans
Provide a development training programme and support for councillors
Provide advice and guidance on the constitution and application of procedural rules
Provide support for scrutiny and policy panels conducting reviews
Work with the monitoring officers and the standards committee to provide support and guidance to councillors regarding their ethical behaviour in accordance with the adopted code of conduct
Provide guidance and record councillors declarations of interest in accordance with the council's code of conduct
Organisation of civic events - Mayor Making, Remembrance Day
Administration of independent charities
