Winterborne Whitechurch

A village of some 700 people, Winterborne Whitechurch lies in the north Winterborne valley where the river meets the A354 about 5 miles south west of Blandford Forum.

In 1750, Edmund Moreton Pleydell built Whatcombe House, now Grade II Listed, which stands within its beautiful grounds. The church of St Mary contains a 15th century carved pulpit which originally came from the old church at Middleton before its removal to Milton Abbas. John Wesley, grandfather of the founders of Methodism, John and Charles Wesley, was vicar here from 1658 to 1662. Whitechurch has a thriving pub,  primary school and village hall with a busy calendar of events.
