Assisted collections
We have a specific policy for cases where residents may be disabled, elderly, or have a medical condition preventing them from presenting their refuse or recycling at the nearest suitable point adopted highway.
What is the Assisted Collection Service?
This service is for residents who due to age, infirmity or disability are unable to place their wheeled bins, recycling boxes or bags at the kerbside collection point.
Assistance will only be provided to households where there is nobody living in the house capable of moving the bag, box or bin to and from the collection point.
Where we agree to provide an assisted collection the receptacle will be collected and returned to an agreed point on the specified day. Access must be available from 7am onward on the day of collection. To carry out an assisted waste collection operatives will have to enter private property to collect the waste or recycling.
Residents should inform us, should they no longer require this service.
Random checks are carried out by our officers to check the validity of applications and to make sure this service is still required.
