Coastal Change

Dorset County Council, in partnership with Devon County Council received a grant from DEFRA to work with communities along the Jurassic Coast to explore how they can adapt to the impact of coastal change.

The overall purpose of this project was to engage with coastal communities about planning to adapt to coastal change, and ensure these communities are well-equipped to understand, debate and take part in the decision making processes involved in managing coastal change.

The project focussed on six communities located along the Jurassic Coast:

  • Sidmouth

  • Charmouth

  • Seatown

  • Preston Beach Road in Weymouth

  • Ringstead

  • North Swanage
