Towards the 2012 Cultural Olympiad
The UK's bid to the International Olympic Committee to host the 2012 Olympic Games included a proposal to develop a four year Cultural Olympiad Festival leading up to the event. The official launch date for the Cultural Olympiad was the weekend of 26-28 September 2008. Significant celebrations took place over the weekend both in Weymouth and Portland and across the county.
