New Horizons Book Award
New Horizons, run jointly by the Dorset Public and School Library Services, aims to encourage young people to explore some of the best fiction by exciting new authors.
This bi-annual award promotes the work of recently published, debut authors for 9 to 13 year olds and features a creative writing competition. The aim of the award is to motivate young people to move away from tried and tested authors and try something new. We also hope that schools will use the award and the creative writing competition to encourage their pupils to share their views about the different genres and styles of writing, and to think about the creative process of writing. The competition provides an opportunity to experience what it is like to set out on the creative journey to become a newly published author!
