Corfe Mullen Childrens Centre

Children's Centres aim to give all children the best possible start in life and enable parents to support their child and family. They act as a central point where families can access information and a range of services.

What we do

We provide various activities for children from 0 to 5 years old and support for their families. We have a purpose built extension to the Library and children's centre, which has given us additional play space, an office area and outside space. The centre has a people carrier we and can arrange transport for those who find it difficult to come to the centre.

We provide activities and groups including:

  • A weekly Stay and Play session for local childminders

  • A weekly Stay and Play for parents with babies/toddlers aged 0-2

  • A rolling programme of parenting groups for parents with new babies

  • A weekly Rhyme Time session for toddlers

Please see the calendar of activities for East Dorset Children's Centres (pdf, 7Mb) (opens in a new window)

We are committed to safeguarding children and can offer support and advice. Find more information on safeguarding children, how we assess children who need extra support and how you can volunteer at the centre on our essential information for all children's centres web page.

Location and area covered

We cover the areas of Corfe Mullen, Sturminster Marshall and Shapwick. We are based at the Corfe Mullen library, which is situated on the Wareham Road near to the Co-operative shop and the village hall. We work very closely with Wimborne Children's Centre, West Moors Children's Centre, Verwood Children's Centre and Ferndown Children's Centre, which forms the East Dorset Cluster.

Parking

There is very limited parking behind the Library and children's centre, which is used by people also visiting other groups in the area. The Co-operative shop car park is not for use by families visiting the centre. We would ask you to walk to the centre if at all possible to avoid the problem of parking. We do have access to a people carrier and can arrange transport for those who find it difficult to get to the Children's Centre.
