Dorchester Childrens Centre

Dorchester Children's Centre

Dorchester children's centre is for all parents/carers with a child aged under five years and under seven years if there is a specific need. We offer information, advice and run a programme of activities.

What we do

We have lots of useful information that you can access whenever you need it including:

  • Parenting programmes
  • Employment advice & job vacancies
  • Outreach support offered by our family support workers
  • Budgeting and debt advice in partnership with the Citizens Advice Bureau
  • Healthy living and dietary advice

We work closely with other agencies and would be happy to show you round the centre. We run a range of activities at the centre for you and your child. Take a look to see what is on offer in our Dorchester children's centre activity programme (pdf, 659kb) (opens in a new window)

We are committed to safeguarding children and can offer support and advice. Find more information on safeguarding children, how we assess children who need extra support and how you can volunteer at the centre on our essential information for all children's centres web page

We have an outreach base in Maiden Newton, which is situated in the grounds of Greenford Primary School.

Location and area covered

Our address is Middle Farm House, Middle Farm Way, Poundbury, Dorchester DT1 3WA. We cover the west side of Dorchester and the surrounding villages reaching as far as Abbotsbury and Litton Cheney. Our Maiden Newton outreach base covers Maiden Newton and the surrounding villages, reaching as far as Rampisham.

We are part of a cluster of centres in West Dorset and in particular we work closely with Broadmayne children's centre

Parking

There is some parking available near the centre in Poundbury.

At the Outreach base in Maiden Newton, there is one Disabled parking bay, to be used only by families displaying a Blue Badge. However, there is some parking on Chilfrome Lane.

If you are within walking distance we would encourage you to walk, as this not only helps the environment but also the health of you and your child. Plus, think of all the wildlife you can see and things you can do whilst walking.

Further Information

Please feel free to drop in to the centre to enquire about our sessions or outreach support. We look forward to seeing you and your children.
