Gillingham Childrens Centre

Children's centres aim to give all children the best possible start in life and enable parents to support their child and family. They act as a central point where families can access information and a range of services.

Overview

Gillingham Children's Centre is part of the North Dorset cluster and we work closely with Shaftesbury Children's Centre, Blandford Children's Centre and the Sturminstrer Newton Outreach Base.  Groups and activities are held at a number of venues around the town and include:

  • Messy Play
  • Drop In sessions
  • First Time Parents group
  • Breastfeeding Support group

We also run a number of play days throughout the year during school holidays.

Find out what activities we are currently running in our Gillingham activities programme (pdf, 140kb) (opens in a new window) . We recommend that you check availability with the centre before attending an activity. We look forward to welcoming you.

Please see our latest North Dorset Children's Centre cluster newsletter (pdf, 4Mb) (opens in a new window) for further information.

Parents and carers can access our outreach workers, who can provide additional support or help to direct you to other professionals.

We are committed to safeguarding children and can offer support and advice. Find more information on safeguarding children, how we assess children who need extra support and how you can volunteer at the centre on our essential information for all children's centres web page
