Somerford Children's Centre

Children's centres aim to give all children the best possible start in life and enable parents to support their child and family. They act as a central point where families can access information and a range of services.

Overview

Somerford Children's Centre offers a range of services and support for children under five years old and their families including:

  • Stay and Play

  • Toy Library

  • Family Support Work

  • Incredible Years Parenting Programme

  • Childminders' Networks

  • Down's in Dorset support group

  • Parent Partnership group

  • Under Ones group

  • Breast Friends group

  • Baby Massage and many more

We work in partnership with a variety of other agencies to offer services or courses including Speech and Language therapy, Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service, the Midwifery Service who offer antenatal appointments at the centre, Health Visitor clinics, Adult Education, Family Learning, Citizen's Advice (by appointment Wednesday am), Jobcentre Plus drop in, etc.

Little Explorers, our daycare facility for babies aged up to five years, is open 50 weeks per year from 8am to 6pm every week day. Little Explorers is supported by the Children's Centre teacher.

Location and area covered

Our reach area includes the wards of Grange, Purewell and Stanpit, Highcliffe, West Highcliffe, North Highcliffe and Walkford. The Children's Centre is located in the Grange Ward on the site of Somerford Primary Community School and Nursery.

Free parking is available on site.
