Swanage Children's Centre

Children's Centres aim to give all children the best possible start in life and enable parents to support their child and family. They act as a central point where families can access information and a range of services.

Overview

Welcome to Swanage Children's Centre. The centre in Chapel Lane has been designed to promote healthy living and learning, using sustainable materials to create an open, welcoming and relaxed atmosphere. The Children's Centre staff have added resources and equipment to enable them to provide services and activities.

These activities are available to all parents and carers of children under 5. We are joined by the health visitors, National Childbirth Trust, and Bosom Buddies to provide a fun learning environment from drop in play sessions to advice at the Well Baby Clinic. We also hold a Teeny Tots group especially for our younger parents, as well as a monthly Dad's session on a Saturday. Our activities and family learning change over the weeks. Why not drop in to see what we have on offer?

We offer family outreach support for those families that may need that extra little bit of help and support. This can be behaviour management, tricky eaters, parenting advice or making contact with other services and agencies, for example Citizens' Advice Bureau, Job Centre plus and Connexions.

Location and area covered

Swanage Children's Centre covers the geographical area from Swanage to Corfe Castle, including Langton Matravers, Studland, Kimmeridge and surrounding villages.

We are linked to the Wareham and Upton Children's Centres and work closely together as part of a cluster.

Families are welcome to attend any of the activities or groups at any of the Children's Centres.

Parking

There is no parking on site, but off road parking is available in surrounding roads. Please do not use the Methodist Church car park as this is used for church activities.

Further Information

Please feel free to drop in to the Centre or contact us direct to enquire about our sessions or courses.

We are always interested in talking to people who would like to work with us as either a volunteer or providing a service from within the Centres. Please contact Collete Ford, Deputy Manager to discuss further.
