What we offer

Upton outreach base is located in Upton Library. We also use Grove Youth Centre for some of our activities. Our staff team create a welcoming learning environment where families can access equipment and activities to help develop skills in both parenting and pre-school readiness. We offer a variety of activities and services including:

  • Baby groups - Health Visitor under ones group, stay and play sessions, breast feeding support
  • Parenting skills - the Incredible Years programme, Young parents to be course
  • Themed sessions - exploratory play, cooking, physical play
  • Chatterplay - speech and language group

These activities are available to all parents and carers of children under five. Why not drop in to see what we have on offer, we would be happy to show you around.

Please see the calendar of activities for Purbeck Children's Centres (pdf, 385kb) (opens in a new window) .

Parents are welcome to use our toys and equipment during Upton library opening times We just ask that they are tidied up afterwards.

We are committed to safeguarding children and can offer support and advice. Find more information on safeguarding children, how we assess children who need extra support and how you can volunteer at the centre on our essential information for all children's centres web page

Additional support if you need it

For families who may need that extra little bit of help we can offer the support of one of our outreach workers who can help on a one to one basis with behaviour management, tricky eaters, parenting advice or additional needs (Early Support) and for families with English as an additional language. If you are confused about benefits, housing and maternity entitlements, returning to work or the disability living allowance we can signpost you to someone who can help. The centre offers a Citizens' Advice session at Upton Infants' School on a Friday 1pm - 3pm, for parents and carers with children under eight. Please call Upton Infants School on 01202 622637 to book an appointment.
