Upton Children's Centre Outreach Base

Children's Centres aim to give all children the best possible start in life and enable parents to support their child and family. They act as a central point where families can access information and a range of services.

Centre Closure

Due to road re-surfacing works, the children's centre will be closed on Thursday 15 March 2012, we will be open as usual from 16 March.

Overview

Welcome to Upton Children's Centre. The Centre is an Outreach Base and is located within the Upton Library. It officially opened in October 2009.

We have use of the space outside of normal Library opening times.

We offer activities for parents and carers of children under five. We ensure a fun learning environment and run activities including Drop In and Stay & Play. Chatterplay is an activity we run to encourage speech and language development and our Nurture group is for children who prefer to play in smaller, calmer groups. 

We endeavour to cater for all families and have specific groups for young parents and will be offering the Incredible Years Parenting Programme from September. Why not drop in to see what we have on offer.

We offer family outreach support for those families that may need that extra little bit of help and support, and this can be behaviour management, tricky eaters, parenting advice or making contact with other services and agencies for example Citizens' Advice Bureau, Job Centre plus and Connexions.

Location and area covered

We are located in the library adjacent to the Health Centre in the centre of Upton. We are linked to the Swanage and Wareham Children's Centres and work closely together as part of a cluster.

Parking

There is no parking on site.

Parents are welcome to use our toys and equipment during library opening times. We just asked that they are tidied up afterwards.

We are always interested in talking to people who would like to work with us as either a volunteer or providing a service from within the Centres. Please contact the centre manager for more information.
