What we do

The Mulberry Children's Centre is run by Action for Children, one of the countries leading charities, who work in partnership with Dorset Sure Start and other agencies to provide services to families in the local community.

We work closely and are linked to a cluster of centres for Weymouth & Portland at Bincombe Valley Children's Centre, Westham Children's Centre and Outlooks Children's Centre on Portland.

Across the cluster a wide variety of services are available to families with children under five years and expectant parents. Activities include:

• Baby Groups, including baby massage, signing and breast feeding support groups
• Play and learn sessions for all - be prepared for messy play!
• Toddler Groups with songs and rhymes to encourage early talk

Also available are groups for families with children who have additional needs, young parents, childminders and families with twins/triplets.

Extra Support

Sometimes families need extra help for various reasons and these families are supported by our outreach workers who can offer advice and work with other services and agencies where needed. 

Anyone interested in sharing their ideas on what they would like to see happening at their local children's centre is welcome to join our active Parent Forum. We have an active Parent Forum and new members are always welcome. We are committed to safeguarding children and can offer support and advice. Location and opening times

We cover Weymouth town and surrounds. We are based at the Mulberry (formerly the arts centre), in Commercial Road. There is no parking on site but the centre is located opposite the Marina car park and not far from Debenhams' multi storey car park.

The centre is open Monday to Thursday 8.30am to 5pm and Friday 8.30am to 4.30pm. Please note that times may vary according to local need. We are open throughout the year including school holidays, but are closed on bank holidays.
