Bovington Childrens Centre
Bovington Children's Centre offers information and support for all families with children under five and where there is a specific need, for children under seven. Find out what we offer including the programme of activities we run in and around Bovington.
What we do
We look forward to welcoming you to Bovington Children's Centre where you will find a child friendly, exciting environment with a large activity room. We work closely with other agencies and community groups in Bovington. We also use the memorial hall in Bovington to run some of our activities and families can use either venue to help develop parenting skills and enable their child to develop pre-school readiness.
We offer a variety of activities and services including:
- Health visitors early days cafe
- Under ones group and young parents group
- Bosom buddies breast feeding support group
- Parenting skills
- Themed session including exploratory play, cooking and physical play
Please see the current calendar of activities for Purbeck Children's Centres (pdf, 422kb) (opens in a new window) . These activities are open to all parents and carers of children aged under five. Why not drop in to see what we have on offer, we would be happy to show you around.
Included in the activity programme are Purbeck cluster parent drop-in sessions (pdf, 227kb) (opens in a new window) offering free advice and information on areas such as budgeting and childcare. There are also baby & child resuscitation courses (pdf, 488kb) (opens in a new window) taking place at each Purbeck Children's Centre between December 2013 to January 2014.
We are committed to safeguarding children and can offer support and advice. Find more information on safeguarding children, how we assess children who need extra support and how you can volunteer at the centre on our essential information for all Children's Centres web page
Additional support if you need it
For families who may need that extra little bit of help we can offer the support of one of our outreach workers who can help on a one to one basis with behaviour management, tricky eaters, parenting advice or additional needs (Early Support) and for families with English as an additional language. If you are confused about benefits, housing and maternity entitlements, returning to work or disability living allowance, we can sign post you to someone who can help.
Location and area
We are based in the shopping parade in George V Road. Some of our sessions are held at the Memorial Hall located by the Hive. We cover the geographical area from Lulworth to Morden. We have strong links with Swanage Children's Centre and Upton Children's Centre and have an outreach base in Wool Children's Centre working together as part of the Purbeck cluster. Families are welcome to attend any of the activities or groups running from any Children's Centre.
You can park for free at the front or behind our base office in Bovington.
You can drop in to see us at the Children's Centre office, but please phone ahead to check that someone will be available to see you. We are always interested in talking to people who would like to work with us as either a volunteer or providing a service from within the centres. Please contact us for more information.
See the Bovington Children's Centre Ofsted Inspection Report (opens in a new window) for 7 December 2011.
