St Catherine's Hill and Town Common Management Plan

The Plan, which covers a 10 year period from 2012 to 2022 is now available in draft form. Public consultation over the Draft Plan will take place from 1 February 2012 to 30 March 2012. It sets out the future management for St Catherine's Hill and part of Town Common, covering the western slopes and plateau on top of the hill.

A management plan steering group was established in 2009 to oversee the production of a new management plan for St Catherine's Hill and Town Common in Christchurch.

This group comprises representatives from the following bodies:

  • Hurn Parish Council

  • Ward Councillors

  • Christchurch Borough Council

  • Amphibian and Reptile Conservation Trust (ARC)

  • Natural England

  • Friends of St Catherine's Hill

  • West Christchurch Residents Association

  • Sembcorp Bournemouth Water

  • Urban Heaths Partnership

Independent facilitators were appointed by the group to help with the process of producing the new plan.

Informal public consultation drop-in sessions have been planned for Saturday 25 February 2012 at St Catherine's Hill Community Hall on Marlow Drive, Christchurch, between 10am and 5pm and Friday 9 March between 4pm and 7pm. Members of the Steering Group will be available on those dates to discuss any aspect of the draft plan or supporting documents.

Relevant documents, including the full management plan, a summary management plan and a consultation response form can be found on this page for download.

A hydrology report relating to the area covered by the management plan was produced in November 2009 and is available to download as an executive summary (pdf, 190kb) (opens in a new window)  or as a full report (pdf, 5Mb) (opens in a new window) .
