Christchurch has a variety of parks and open spaces ranging from beaches and nature reserves to recreation grounds and sports pitches.

We want to encourage local people to enjoy our open spaces and get the best use from them, without adversely affecting nearby residents.

outlines the type of events and activities permitted on open spaces managed by us. It also stipulates any restrictions that may apply, such as frequency and duration of events.
Green Flag Entry for Christchurch Quay
Christchurch Quay has been entered into the Green Flag Award which recognises the best green spaces in the country. Judging will take place on Tuesday 15 May 2012 and the application will be judged on: a sense of welcoming; health, safety and security; cleanliness and maintenance; sustainability; conservation and heritage; community involvement; marketing; and management.
Queen Elizabeth II Fields In Trust
The Queen Elizabeth II Fields Challenge aims to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee and London Olympic and Paralympic Games, as well as the 2014 Commonwealth Games, by protecting outdoor recreational space. The following dates and times have been identified for our Fields In Trust open space events:
- Jumpers Common - Tuesday 31 July, 1pm - 2pm
- Highcliffe Recreation Ground - Thursday 2 August, 1pm - 2pm
- Watermans Park - Friday 3 August, 11am - 12.30pm
These events will include child based sporting activities, run by the Play Rangers, and unveiling of official plaques protecting the sites from future pressures.

Christchurch Play Rangers
The Play Rangers offer free and open access play sessions where all children aged between 0-18 can come and play.

Neos Unit
The Neos Unit is an electronic game that encourages memory retention, hand eye co-ordination, physical strength and endurance. Its fun for all ages and abilities!
