Dorset Family Information Service (FIS) online searches

The four online searches are not currently working. Please see below where you can find information on any of our online searches or phone our helpline on 01305 224800. We are moving to a new improved search facility which will fall under the new branding of 'Word'.

What has happened to the online search facility?

A new and improved search facility known as 'Word' is in development and will be available shortly. Find out more about Word. The searches will be accessed according to four user types. These will be:

  • Parents or carers
  • Professionals
  • Young people
  • Children

In the period leading up to the launch of the new searches you can find information previously available in the following way:

Family and children's activity search

Looking for activities to attend with a child under five? Need to find a children's club in your area for older children? Contact the Dorset Family Information Service (FIS) Helpline and the helpline staff will take details of your needs and send you a report by post, email or fax.

Registered childcare search

Use the related link on the right hand side to the Childcarelink website. This is a national website where you can search for childcare providers across the county. Some Childminders have requested that their details are not shown on the World Wide Web. For a complete list call the Dorset FIS Helpline.

Outdoor play directory

Looking for your nearest play area? Want to set up a new play area and need support? Contact the Dorset FIS and helpline staff will take details of your needs and send you a report by post, email or fax.

Dorset family service directory

Looking for a service to support you or your family? The Dorset Family Service Directory holds details of support services both locally and nationally for all children and young people up to the age of twenty, including those with additional needs. Call them Dorset FIS and staff will take details of your needs and send you a report by post, email or fax.
