Collection of household rubbish

Household rubbish must be put in the appropriate bin or sacks and placed outside early on the collection day.

Recycling is collected at the kerbside in most areas but can also be taken to your local household recycling centre.

  • Christchurch household rubbish collections

Rubbish is collected fortnightly in Christchurch using a grey wheelie bin or authorised blue sacks.

  • East Dorset household rubbish collections

Rubbish is collected fortnightly using a grey wheelie bin in part of East Dorset. People in the rest of East Dorset have their rubbish collected weekly using sacks.

  • North Dorset household rubbish collections

Most North Dorset households receive a weekly sack collection. Some households in the north of the district use a wheeled bin scheme, providing fortnightly rubbish collections and weekly food waste and cardboard collections.

  • Purbeck household rubbish collections

We offer an alternate week collection service for refuse and recycling. The majority of households have been provided with a 240 litre wheeled bin which should be used for any waste that cannot be recycled and a green, 55 litre box for the collection of recyclable material.

  • West Dorset household rubbish collections

We provide a weekly refuse collection from each domestic property. Refuse should be placed in a rubbish bin at the kerbside by 7.30am on collection day.

  • Weymouth and Portland household rubbish collections

Weymouth and Portland Borough Council operate a fortnightly collection of residual waste for all households that are able to accommodate the green 180 litre wheelie bin that is supplied.
