Beaminster and Villages Local Area Partnership (BAVLAP)
The Beaminster and Villages Local Area Partnership as formed in 2008. They meet bi-monthly at village halls in the area and anyone is welcome to attend.
- BAVLAP held their second AGM in November 2010, where they promoted the newly formed Transition Group.
- The Transition Group have produced a
directory of local businesses (pdf, 372kb) (opens in a new window)
(available free for the public hall and Yarn Barton) which will showcases the wide variety of small businesses in the area to help people shop locally and save fuel miles. - The Transition Group have also developed an
action plan 2010-12 (pdf, 213kb) (opens in a new window) .
- The Transition Group is developing a project called Beamoil, a local cooperative to purchase fuel oil in bulk and make savings - contact the group using the details below if you would like to join.
- BAVLAP held a community information and 'give and take day' in July 2011 - over 43 kilos were saved from landfill and recycled into new homes - they hope to repeat this event in the autumn.
- BAVLAP achieved three the actions in their new
BAVLAP Action Plan 2010-13 (pdf, 660kb) (opens in a new window) within four months of launching it:
- residents parking permits are now available to people living on Fleet Street - please contact West Dorset District Council for information.
- a local telephone number has been launched at the Barton House Surgery 01308 861938.
- the TREATS Toy Library service is commencing a fortnightly drop off point in Yarn Barton commencing in August
