Christchurch

Call the office on 01202 495000 to ensure you receive a prompt response. This number can also be used outside of normal office hours.

East Dorset

In order to ensure you receive a prompt response you are recommended to contact the office on 01202 886201, this number can be used both during and outside office hours. During office hours ask for public health admin and outside of office hours call the mobile number given in the recorded message for any other urgent matter.

North Dorset

Contained stray dogs may be collected between the hours of 9am and 3pm, Monday to Friday. The dog warden service is not available outside of these hours. At other times, please contact our Emergency Service on 07774 972063 for advice.

Purbeck

We will collect stray dogs during normal office hours, please call 01929 556561. We don't offer an out of hours collection service for stray dogs.

West Dorset

We will collect retained stray dogs during office hours. If you find a stray dog outside of Office hours you will always be asked if you can retain the dog until the next working day. If you are unable to keep the dog this authority along with Weymouth and Portland BC operate a voluntary dog collection service with qualified Dog Wardens and whilst we will make every effort to collect the dog from you, we may not be able to do so every time a stray is reported. This service operates out of hours between 17.00 to 22.00 hours Monday to Friday and 08.00 to 22.00 hours on weekends and Bank Holidays. Please call 01305 251010 during and outside office hours.

Weymouth and Portland

We will collect retained stray dogs during office hours. If you find a stray dog outside of Office hours you will always be asked if you can retain the dog until the next working day. If you are unable to keep the dog this authority along with West Dorset DC operate a voluntary dog collection service with qualified Dog Wardens and whilst we will make every effort to collect the dog from you, we may not be able to do so every time a stray is reported. This service operates out of hours between 17.00 to 22.00 hours Monday to Friday and 08.00 to 22.00 hours on weekends and Bank Holidays. During Office hours pls call 01305 838000 and outside office hours the number is 01305 838427.

Bournemouth

The Animal Welfare service can be contacted on 01202 451306 during office hours of 08:30 to 17:15 Monday to Thursday and 08:30 - 16:45 Friday. There are no provisions to provide a stray Found/Lost service outside of these times during the week and you are advised to contact the Animal Welfare Officer on the next working day. 

Found or Lost dogs Out of Hours on a Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holidays can be reported to the Bournemouth Borough Council's Central Control Room, Building Maintenance number on 08000 281870 during the hours of 09:00 to 16:30. There are no provisions at this time for Bournemouth Borough Council to provide a stray dog service outside these times during the week and weekends.
