Dorset Authors Collection

A unique collection consisting of thousands of publications relating to Dorset's authors and poets, including Thomas Hardy, William Barnes, John Fowles, Sir Frederick Treves, Sylvia Townsend Warner and the Powys brothers.

Available for consultation at the Dorset History Centre, the Dorset Authors Collection includes the works of:

Additionally, the T E Lawrence collection is kept at Wareham library.

The collection consists of around 5000 items - aside from the published works of these authors and poets, there are also biographies, literary criticism, journal articles, photographs and more.

The collection can be searched using the Dorset library online catalogue.

Most of the collection is on open access and can be browsed in the public research rooms. Some rare and less heavily used books are kept behind the scenes and can be accessed by requesting them in our searchroom.

As with all collections at the Dorset History Centre, these items are for on-site reference use only. First time visitors need to bring proof of identity in order to register.
