Dorset Driver

Courses designed to refresh and update your driving skills.

Car drivers and passengers account for almost half the people killed or seriously injured on Dorset County Council's roads and research suggests that human error is a contributing factor in nearly all collisions.

Dorset Driver courses are designed for drivers of all ages and experience. They provide an opportunity to update your driving skills and knowledge of the Highway Code, helping you deal with ever changing road conditions, and can reduce your risk of becoming involved in a collision.

There are two elements to Dorset Driver:

Dorset Driver theory course

A two hour course aimed at helping drivers update their knowledge and skill.  No driving is involved.

The group discussions include:

  • Observation
  • Distraction
  • Safety margins
  • Dual carriageways/Motorways
  • Roundabouts
  • New driving techniques
  • Changes in the law and the Highway Code
  • Keeping fit to drive

Cost

Course fee: £5 (payable on the day)
