Dorset Public Sector Network
The Dorset Public Sector Network is at the heart of an exciting new era in "joining up" telephone, computer and communications systems across Dorset County Council...and beyond.
DPSN is a "network of networks" which connects the county council, the majority of schools, partner councils and public sector organisations.
Each partner organisation can arrange a contract with the DPSN supplier, Kcom, which is specifically tailored to meet their business needs.
The DPSN partnership and Kcom have signed a four year agreement .The Wide Area Network (WAN) and Unified Communications (UC) telephone project is the first contract and has been set for seven years.
By gathering together demand through frameworks and setting standards, DPSN will save partner organisations money, improve service delivery and allow easier joint-working between government departments and agencies through a strategic approach to the national Public Sector Network (PSN) project.
Dorset County Council Chief Executive David Jenkins says:
"I expect our Public Service Network to enable people to communicate with public service bodies more effectively and to enable public service bodies in Dorset to link with each other more effectively too, so that we move from separate bodies more towards a single public service in Dorset."
"I'm absolutely convinced that this is a very worthwhile investment. At times when money is difficult to find, it becomes perhaps more difficult to justify upfront investment, but those are the very times when it's all the more important to do that. I'm convinced that the investment that we make now will reap dividends and will enable us to work more effectively and provide better value for the taxpayers' money in future."
