Home schooling

Most children will usually attend their local school, but for various reasons, some parents decide to undertake the responsibility for their child's education outside of the school system. This is known as elective home education (EHE).

If you need any information about educating your child(ren) at home, please read the guidance notes (pdf, 65kb) (opens in a new window) and then complete this questionnaire (word, 83kb) (opens in a new window)  and return it to the address at the end of this page. If you require further assistance, please use the contact details below.

Flexi-schooling

Flexi Schooling (pdf, 43kb) (opens in a new window) or flexible school attendance is an arrangement between the parent and the school where the child is registered at the school but only attends the school part-time. The rest of the time the child is home educated (on authorised absence from school). Flexi-schooling is a legal option provided that the headteacher at the school concerned agrees to the arrangement.
