Guidance and application form for event organisers
If you are planning an event to be held on the highway which is bigger than a street party, such as a carnival or street fair, there are a number of issues to be considered.
A range of advice documentation is available for event organisers:
More information and guidance can be found in the Home Office Event Safety Guide (pdf, 1Mb) (opens in a new window) and the HSE Purple Guide (pdf, 917kb) (opens in a new window) .
How to apply
To book the road space please use Road space booking form for a special event (pdf, 27kb) (opens in a new window) , you may also require a application for a temporary road closure (pdf, 123kb) (opens in a new window) .
In both cases a minimum notice period of 13 weeks is required.
Contact Dorset Highways if you are unsure or need further clarification on whether a road closure may be needed.
Different types of Licence requirements
Other types of licences may also be required for an event, selling of alcohol for example. Further information on licences can be found at licences, permits and registration.
