Information for Parents through the Family Information Service

This section is for parents and families who are seeking information on childcare. It also includes wider information about services relevant to children and their families which are available from the Family Information Service.

The Family Information Service (FIS) can provide you with impartial and accurate information and advice on childcare, family activities and family support. This is in line with section 12 of the Childcare Act 2006 which puts a duty on all local authorities 'to provide information to the public on childcare and related services' and 'information which parents may need to support their children through to their 20th birthday'.

The FIS can be accessed in variety of ways by phone, email, through the Outreach team or via our online search facility WORD.
