Give an Hour Dorset

Fifty thousand people in Dorset have never used the internet. Find out how to help someone get online and to join the UK's growing network of digital champions

As someone who uses the internet regularly to stay in touch with family and friends, explore your hobbies and interests, shop for bargains and find useful information, it's easy to take it for granted and assume that everybody uses it.

But did you know that there are over fifty thousand people in Dorset who have never used the internet before?

The benefits of being online are enormous but for many people the idea of using computers and the internet can be scary. It's an unknown world full of jargon and technology they simply don't understand.

You probably know someone like this. They might be a parent, grandparent, neighbour or friend.

Sharing your knowledge and inspiring someone to have a go can be a rewarding experience. You don't have to be an expert to show someone what to do. All you need is a little patience and some basic computer and internet experience.

So go on. Give an Hour and help someone get more out of life online.

Become a Digital Champion

A digital champion is someone who supports their family, friends, colleagues or customers to get all the benefits that the internet can bring. They can inspire people to take their first steps online by telling them about a site or service that matches their interests, showing them how to use the web, and helping them to gain internet access.

You don't have to be an expert to help someone get online, so what are you waiting for?

Visit the Go ON website (opens in a new window) for more ways to help someone.  For regular tips and tools to help someone get online, please join the UK's growing network of digital champions.
