Dorset councils' greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) reports for 2009/10 and 2010/11

From July 2011, all local authorities must report greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.

The new form of local authority reporting takes into account the whole range of green house gases (GHG) that come from council owned estates and operations, and not just carbon dioxide emissions.

Revised conversion factors, provided by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA), are used to calculate GHG emissions. These figures are shown as tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e).

There are slight differences when comparing the previous National Indicator 185 data to the revised GHG reports, this is due to updated conversion factors which account for the decreasing carbon intensity of grid electricity.

To read more about how we measure GHG, please see the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) website (opens in a new window) .
