The system of choice based lettings (CBL) which allocates affordable housing to those that have applied for it, is in operation in most Dorset authorities. We want to make this system even better and provide even more choice and opportunity for applicants.

To do this East Dorset, North Dorset, West Dorset and Purbeck District Councils together with Christchurch Borough Council propose to create a Dorset wide CBL scheme that also includes the Boroughs of Poole and Bournemouth, and Weymouth & Portland.

This system will be called Dorset Home Choice.

To do this the eight local authorities are working together to deliver:

  • A joint housing allocations policy

  • A single housing register application form

  • A single CBL system across all partners

The newsletters set out the key changes this policy will introduce for each of the partners and seeks your views on these changes via a questionnaire.
