Dorset Coast Forum Archaeology Group
The Dorset Coast Forum Archaeology Group took over from the Dorset Coast Forum Archaeology Working Group, which was originally established to promote archaeological work along the Dorset coast.
The principle aim of the Dorset Coast Forum Archaeology Group remains the same as that of the former Dorset Coast Forum Archaeology Working Group in that it promotes coastal and maritime archaeology along the Dorset coast.
The group retains a 'watching brief' over the progress of the Maritime Archaeological Record, which was originally established by the Archaeology Working Group. It encourages and promotes a range of archaeological activities along the coast, and encourages the sharing of information and the distribution and publication of current work via seminars and meetings.
The groups secretariat is provided by the Nautical Archaeological Society and it is hosted by Weymouth Museum.
Past projects include the Timber Recording Scheme, and the establishment of the Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment.
