Artsmark

Artsmark is awarded to schools who show a commitment to the full range of arts - music, dance, drama and art and design. It is a national award scheme and is managed by Arts Council England.

Arts Council England are delighted to announce the ten year birthday of Artsmark. Over the last nine years, almost 10,000 schools have successfully achieved an award, many of them maintaining their status or progressing from Artsmark to silver or gold.

Since establishing Artsmark there have been a number of changes in arts and culture as well as education. During 2010/11, Arts Council England will be taking the opportunity to step back and consider how the award can respond to these changes and might evolve in the future. This should mean significant improvements to the Artsmark programme and application processes.

The changes to Artsmark will need to be tested and this is expected to happen in the academic year 2010/11. Therefore there will not be a Round 11 of Artsmark in its current form during 2010/11.

The plan for developing a successor scheme is currently being designed. There will be an opportunity for schools, local authorities, arts professionals and arts organisations to feed into the process. Details about this will be posted on Artsmark (opens in a new window).
