Statement of Community Involvement

The Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) sets out how local communities and stakeholders with an interest in the area can play a part in the preparation and revision of minerals and waste planning documents and the consideration of planning applications that are dealt with by the county council.

Dorset's SCI was formally adopted by the county council on 7 March 2007. The adopted SCI incorporates the changes made by an independent planning inspector who was appointed to consider the overall 'soundness' of the statement, as well as individual representations made.

The SCI, the adoption statement and the inspector's report are available to download on the right hand side of this page.

Hard copies of the SCI can be purchased for £5 from the Environment Business Support team and are available to view in the Environment Reception, County Hall, Dorchester during normal working hours (8.40am - 5.20pm Mon-Thurs; 8.40am - 4.00pm Fri). Copies are also available to view in all Dorset libraries and district/borough council offices in the county.
