04. Dorset Age Partnership

The Dorset Age Partnership(DAP) is the new name of the previous Dorset Older People's Partnership.  The members all felt that there was confusion with other initiatives in Dorset and so a competition was held to rename the group.

The DAP has emerged from joint work with Older People and Older People's forums and voluntary and Statutory Organisations to create a theme group for the DSP which focuses primarily on issues affecting older people in communities in Dorset.  It was launched on 2 June 2006 with the support of Dr Mervyn Eastman, Director of Better Government for Older People.

The DAP meets in the six localities of the District/Borough Councils on a quarterly basis.

Priorities:

  • To engage older people in the commissioning of services
  • to promote partnership working
  • to review progress of services in relation to national local priorities
  • to promote health, well-being and active ageing of older people in Dorset
