What is a flexible Door to Dorset bus service?
This flexible bus operates on a 'demand responsive' basis. This means the route is not fixed and the service runs only when requested by the passengers in the area where it operates. Some services will have elements of 'demand responsive' within journeys that will mean the bus will only divert to particular stops by prior booking.
Who can use the service?
Anyone can use the service. The drivers will be pleased to help passengers who have impaired mobility and the buses are fully accessible.
Where can I catch it?
When you register with the service we will agree a pick-up point you can use. This could be an existing bus stop or a point nearer your home.
How do I register?
Most people register by calling the appropriate Door to Dorset enquiry line.
When can I book it?
You can arrange a journey up to an hour before your request for travel or regular passengers can book journeys up to two weeks in advance subject to availability. If you are a wheelchair user, please book the day before travelling.
How do I book?
Once you have registered, simply call us and book your journey. You can use the Door to Dorset service telephone line from 8.30am until 5pm Mondays to Saturdays. Some services are very busy so it is an advantage to book your seat as early as possible. The call centre can experience high volumes of calls in the early part of the day. If you are able to phone later in the morning or afternoon this should reduce any call waiting time.
Can I use the service if I'm on holiday in the area?
Yes, just follow the booking procedure and tell us where you want to travel to and from. In some areas you can use your holiday accommodation provider's registration to save you the registration process.
