Childcare sufficiency assessment
This is the first Childcare Sufficiency Assessment update in Dorset. The Childcare Act 2006 (Section 11) places a duty on the local authority (Dorset County Council) to assess whether there is a sufficient supply of childcare to meet the needs of parents, especially those working or wishing to return to work or training.
A detailed assessment of supply and demand for childcare in Dorset was undertaken in 2007/8. Sections one and two of this assessment have been brought up to date with the most recent data available. The current assessment will be kept under review and updated regularly.

This Supplementary Assessment should be cross referenced with the CSA 2008 and the 2009 update. This supplement contains details of information that has changed since the last update in March 2009.
