We work hard to promote road safety education and implement safety schemes in Dorset that benefit the whole community.
We provide access to information, training and guidance in all matters relating to road safety, particularly education, training and publicity.
This important information offers advice to parents, the general public, teachers and children. There is also access to resources and other websites.

No excuse
'No excuse' is a year-long partnership campaign aimed at reducing the number of people killed or seriously injured on Dorset's roads by a third in 2010 based on 2008 figures.

Motorcyclists
Over the last three years almost 25% of people killed or seriously injured on Dorset's roads were motorcyclists. Dorset County Council are working with partners to provide opportunities for riders to become more aware of the risks and hazards associated with riding a motorcycle on the roads.

Bikeability - National Standard Cycle Training Scheme
Dorset County Council is a nationally accredited Bikeability provider of level 1 and 2 training courses.

Speed management toolkit
This toolkit is an educational guide for parish and town councils. It is aimed at helping councils prioritise requests for speed / traffic management measures as part of their parish plan developments.

School Crossing Patrols
School Crossing Patrols are employed to provide safe crossing locations to and from school. Locations are established where the necessary criteria are met. Dorset currently has 65 School Crossing Patrol sites.
