Cycling the Dorset countryside

Why not discover Dorset's countryside on a bike? Cycling is a great way to get fit and explore your local area. It's not just about recreation, there are many bridleway and trails which can get you to work while avoiding the traffic on the roads. Cycling is a much more pleasant way to get to where you're going.

You can cycle on bridleways which are way marked by a blue arrow and a horse and rider. Horse riders also use bridleways so please make way for other users.

Dorset Countryside has developed a number of trails along which you can cycle, walk and ride. Some of these trails have sections where cycling and riding is restricted so please check the map before you set out.

We have also developed seven cycle routes around North Dorset that are aimed at a range of abilities. Each route is graded according to the surface, time and hills, one being the easiest and three being the hardest. The cycling pack is available to buy from us at a cost of £2.50. Contact Business Support if you would like a copy.
