Minerals and Waste Development Framework
The Minerals and Waste Development Framework (MWDF) is the name for the portfolio of development documents that will provide the framework for delivering minerals and waste planning policy guidance for Dorset, Bournemouth and Poole.
What is the MWDF?
The introduction of the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004 included the replacement of local plans with local development frameworks. Development frameworks comprise a portfolio of development plan documents and supplementary planning documents that provide locally specific planning policy guidance against which to determine planning applications.
The current adopted plans are:
- Minerals and Waste Local Plan 1999
- Bournemouth, Dorset and Poole Waste Local Plan 2006
Both of the above plans now form part of the MWDF. Minerals policies within the Minerals and Waste Local Plan and all policies within the Waste Local Plan have been 'saved' until they are superseded by new minerals and waste development plan documents.
Work is now underway to produce the new minerals and waste development plan documents. Once adopted, these new documents will provide the planning policy framework for minerals and waste development within the county.
The Bournemouth, Dorset and Poole Minerals and Waste Policy Joint Advisory Committee, made up of members from the three authorities, oversees the production of all minerals and waste development documents. The committee approves documents for consultation and recommends the submission and adoption of final documents. Waste Local Plan
The Bournemouth, Dorset and Poole Waste Local Plan (WLP), adopted in June 2006, is the current development plan document for waste developments.

Minerals and Waste Local Plan
The Dorset Minerals and Waste Local Plan, adopted in April 1999, is the current development plan document for minerals developments within Dorset and the adjoining unitary boroughs of Bournemouth and Poole.

Minerals Site Allocations Document
The initial period of consultation on the Minerals Site Allocations Document ended in December 2008. The outcomes of the consultation were reported to the Minerals and Waste Policy Joint Advisory Committee in March 2009. A report including a summary of responses received is now available.

The minerals and waste development scheme (MWDS) sets out Dorset County Council's (DCC) programme for the management of its minerals and waste development framework.

Statement of Community Involvement
The Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) sets out how local communities and stakeholders with an interest in the area can play a part in the preparation and revision of minerals and waste planning documents and the consideration of planning applications that are dealt with by the county council.
- Annual monitoring report
The annual monitoring report (AMR) provides a progress update on work undertaken on Dorset's minerals and waste planning policy framework, as well as the latest available figures for the amounts of waste managed and aggregates produced.

The Minerals Core Strategy (MCS) sets out the vision, objectives and spatial strategy for meeting Dorset, Bournemouth and Poole's mineral requirements.
