Renewable energy information sheets

The Dorset Energy Group has completed a set of eight information sheets relating to sustainable energy and micro renewable installations.

These provide up to date information (October 2009) on the measures that Dorset residents can incorporate into their homes, businesses and community buildings, including:

  • Background to each renewable energy technology

  • The approximate amount of your household heat and power requirements that each technology can provide

  • The best place to site an installation

  • The maintenance required (if any)

  • How much each technology costs

  • What grants are available, grants and financial assistance

  • How long the technology must be used before it pays back its extra cost

  • Grid connection issues (where appropriate)

  • Planning issues

  • The potential for each technology in Dorset

  • A summary of pros and cons of each technology

  • Installers operating in the South West

  • Where to find more information
