Future school provision in Purbeck - consultation

A review of educational provision in the Purbeck area is currently under way. The key purpose is to create a school system which is more efficient, effective and fit for purpose, enabling all children and young people to achieve high standards.

Update on progress

Dorset County Council's Cabinet and Full County Council met on 21 and 22 July 2010 concerning the Purbeck Review. At these meetings they made a decision to move the Purbeck area of schools from the current three tier (first/middle/upper) to a two tier (primary/secondary) pattern of provision. This decision is subject to a four week appeal period and would be phased in from September 2012.

The attached table shows how the pattern of education provision in Purbeck would be changed should the proposals be approved.
