What is a speed indicator device (SID)?
A speed indicator device flashes the speed of an approaching vehicle and it is used to raise driver's awareness of their speed.
Does SID record vehicle registration details?
No, SID is designed as an educational tool aimed raising awareness of local speed limits.
Does SID record any Data?
Yes, SID will record speed data and the total number of vehicles passing the unit during deployment
How do I request SID in my area?
The speed indicator programme is currently suspended to new requests until further notice. However, parish/town and borough councils wanting to purchase their own SID can do so in partnership with Dorset County Council.
