Lyme Regis dog control orders
On 16 March 2009 West Dorset District Council made the following orders under section 55 of the Clean Neighbourhoods and Environment Act 2005. In accordance with legal requirements the orders are advised in this notice.
These orders apply to the area of beach in Lyme Regis known as the Front Town Beach, bounded by a line from the Cobb slipway to the southernmost point of the north (harbour) wall eastwards to Cobb Gate car park.

From 1 April to 31 October, inclusive, all dogs are to be excluded from the Front Town Beach -
Lyme Regis Front Town Beach Dog Exclusion Order 2009 [512kb] (opens in a new window).
From 1 November to 31 March, inclusive, all dogs on the Front Town Beach are to be kept on leads -

These orders shall remain in force until amendment or repeal by further order.
Non-compliance with the above orders could incur a fine up to £1,000 on conviction in a magistrates' court. An offender may be offered a fixed penalty notice in order to discharge the offence. The fixed penalty is currently £75 (£50 if paid within 7 days).
