Weymouth Rugby Club pitches

The two pitches north of the club house, which are on the old landfill site, will be improved as part of the park and ride site remediation.

These two pitches are closed and will be reopened in time for the start of the 2010/11 season.

So that the rugby club can still operate, the one pitch in front of the club house has had two pitches temporarily installed on it.

Work to install the temporary pitches in summer 2009 included:

  • Building a new and improved footpath and cycleway around the pitch
  • Realigning the footpath from Monmouth Avenue to be clear of the pitch
  • Topsoil brought in to bring up the level around the existing pitch
  • 13 trees being cleared on the bank east of the pitch
  • New sewer laid from the club house

By autumn 2010, the Lodmoor north landfill remediation works will be complete and the two pitches north of the club house will be reopened. The two temporary pitches will then revert back to one pitch.
