Admissions to schools
These pages provide all the information you need to apply for a school place as a Dorset Resident and/or for a Dorset School.

Initial contact with the Local Authority will be through Dorset Direct who can provide comprehensive help and advice on the admissions process. The admissions team can provide more complex information on space availability, transport support, legislation and more.

School Admissions Appeals
If you have received written notification that your child has been refused a school place you have the opportunity to appeal to an independent appeal panel.

School admissions consultation documents
Consultation is an important part of the process of formulating and determining admission arrangements. All admission authorities are required to consult on admission arrangements for an eight week period. There are currently no outstanding consultations.
